Bangladesh Army urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent activities involving its name in the jhut (unused fabric from garment factories) business. The appeal was made through a media release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on November 15.
The statement described recent incidents where unscrupulous individuals and groups have falsely used the names of senior army officials to engage in jhut trading and other illegal activities in industrial zones. Such actions, it said, have tarnished the reputation of the armed forces.
“The army has been tirelessly working to maintain law and order and ensure a production-friendly environment in industrial areas,” the release read, stressing that recommending or engaging in jhut or other businesses is not part of the army's responsibilities.
To prevent further misuse, the army has requested the public to report any such fraudulent activities using the following phone numbers: 01769091020, 01769095198, and 01769095209.
